This is for a 1st time Guitar , did you buy it or a gift to you.
Don`t know were to start ?
Fig 1( attachment )
Fig 1 is know as the Headstalk of the Guitar.
As you can guess the tuning pegs will tune the Guitar to a note.
*** Acoustic Guitar top 3 pegs right to ler are 6,5,4 and the bottom pegs 3,2,1 not show hear
The numbers 1 to 6 are the string numbers. the 6th is fare left , the 1st is the far Right.
Electrics 1,2 and 3 are the treble string plan steel. 4,5 and 6 are the wound strings( you can see the difference in fig 1).
For Electric Guitars most people will use Gauge 9 or 10 there is many variations as through time it will become a personnel feel and choice
Infio taken for the Status quo site
*** string numbers are 1,2,3,4,5,6 note that string are getting thicker as the move left to right
The gauge of the strings Francis uses are: .09 .11 .16 .26w 34w 46w. w is short for wound.
The gauge of the strings Rick uses are: .14 .17 .26w .36w 46w 56w. (these are heavy gauge strings. WARNING DO NOT PUT THEM ON THE GUITAR WITHOUT A PROPER PRO SET UP. IE THE YOUR LOCAL GUITAR SHOP.
The question you have asked yourslef is why Rick and Fransis have differnt gauges of string sets?
A ) As you know francis plays lead, and the thiner gauge string is easier to bend. Most Guitar played will use 9th.
As Rick play rhythm and knocks the stunnfing out of the strings. They are stiffer and harder to bend. I deal and a thicker tone. If rick had use Francis Guitar we would know them out of tune
can tune Guitar with Tuner ( there clip on tuners or pedal tuners )
