"Status Quo's Rick Parfitt has broken cover for the first time since it was announced that he wouldn't be participating in the group's 'Last Night Of The Electrics' tour, which started last Wednesday, 12th October, at The Gasometer in Vienna.
A note posted via the official Status Quo Fan Club, From The Makers Of, written in his own hand on Vincci Hotels notepaper says: "Hi Y'all, well here I am sitting in a hotel in Malaga. Just thought I'd drop you a little line to say how much I miss being part of the last year of rockin', but I must fully recover from the latest blip with my heart and with what's left of it. I wish you all a Happy Christmas and see y'all somewhere sometime in the new year. Lots of Love R x"
In mid-September it was officially announced by Status Quo that Parfitt would be sitting out the upcoming Last Night Of The Electrics tour, which would see the band hanging up their electric guitars after the final performance in Liverpool's Echo Arena on Friday 23rd December. Parfitt suffered a heart attack following a Quo show in Turkey on 14th June and was subsequently airlifted back the UK a week later.
These final electric tour dates will truly be the end of an era as Status Quo turn their back on constantly touring their fabled electric live set. Since first charting in 1967 the band have become a truly iconic and massively influential rock act. The world of music will not be the same once the dust has settled from The Last Night Of The Electrics Tour.
The band are scheduled to release their new album, 'Aquostic II – That’s A Fact!’, via Universal Music on Friday 21st October, which features Parfitt and the rest of the band on acoustic guitars as they run through a host of Quo classics and more obscure album tracks and also includes three brand new numbers.
Here's the title track, 'That's A Fact'...
