My dream for the end of Quo - to see every member of the band past and present on the same stage at the last ever gig. As the encore ends, they all stand on the stage in the "Tank" formation with teles playing Rick's intro to Caroline as the stage sinks from view in dry ice .
Why don`t you have a go and start out with an acoustic?
I always find acoustics hard to play for beginners. You have to press the strings so much more for a good sound. Got my old acoustic out over xmas when I could not get to the amp. Put it away again very quickly

It`s the way i went in the beginning and it quickly toughens up your fingers. Getting a full sound to, minus an amp` is a cheap way to get going on a budget. All about preference of course.
Ah 4th Feb 1994 was the day of of Hell. Ah bought my 1st Guitar for £25 a Hohner Classical guitar. What a silly sod i had no Guitar tuner. The action on the Guitar was very high ( I deal for slide , that`as an other story), the fingers was read raw after playing for a few minutes. Har i bought a Guitar slide , i had no idea about tuning to a Chord , that explains the horrible sounds.
Then through time i read in Guitar magazines about the Action of the Guitar. By luck a local Guitar shop saved the day and now can get different actions set up high and low. The Acoustic i has been set up for low action ( great for finger picking) and Slide Guitar set up with higher action.
Do this day there is always something new to learn. It keeps me going.
One thing that discovered that Guitar magazines misses out on the great techniques that i picked up from Homespun DVDS. Like the delta slide masters , Flamenco and finger picking styles. These day Youtube is great place to discover Guitar styles. Amazing how 6 string can sound different and feel different to each player.
