This is just a quick guide to help you with the Open G.
Tunings notes 1st
Detune the 1st and 6th string down a tone down to D
Detune the 5th string down a tone to G
The tab has 3 sections
1 Power chords
2 12 bar in G with boogie 6th pattern
3 And key of G with the basic 6th and 7th note rhythm.
TAB notes
Under the chord there is number ( Botton number is the 5th string , the one above it is the 4th string).
Power chords
I will assume that you have seen the lessons in Standard tuning with power chords shapes.
Now with Open G the open 5th and 4th acts a G 5 power chord( Root=G=5th string, 5th=D=4th string) hence we have a G5.
All have to do is use the 1st finger to bar across the Strings. Like let try fret 1 bar the 5th and 4th at the 1st position. That will produce the G# chord, as we can see from the tab the root note is always on the 5th string. If you wish you strike all the strings from the 5th string to 1st string.
The tab will help you find any power chord in Open G.
12 bar in G with boogie 6th pattern
If you are now happy playing power chord let now add the Boogie 6th (Again I assume that you have seen the lessons in Standard tuning.
The 1st chord is G( bar 4 on the Tab). We use the Index finger ( 2nd finger) to play the 2nd fret on the 4th string.
key of G with the basic 6th and 7th note rhythm
Bar 16 to 18
We can also add the 7th.
Beat 1 and 2 ( is same at the 6th pattern that we just looked at), Beat 3 we now use 4th finger to play one fret higher that 6th note ( G=0, D=3). Hence we just move one fret higher that fret 6th note.
Beat 4 is same as beat 2
I hope this help with the Open G tuning. I have just kept as an introduction to it.
We count out as 1 a 2 a 3 a 4 a
The 6th note land on beat 2 and beat 4
Beat one strike the 5th and 4th string twice ( 1 a)
Beat 2 we now place the 2nd finger on 4th string fret 2 and hit the open 5 string and strike in once, then take of fthe 2nd finger of the 4th string and hit the 5th and 6th string open
Beat 3 and 4 is same as beats 1 and 2
4th chord(C chord) Bar the 5th and 4th String at the 5 position with the 1st finger, and use your 3rd finger to play the 7th fret on the 4th string. And use same count as just did with G chord.
5th chord ( D chord). Bar the 5th and 4th String at the 7 position with the 1st finger ,and use your 3rd finger to play the 9th fret on the 4th string. And use same count as just did with G chord
Now if go back to power chords charts. We can now see if we bar any on chord, then we just move two fret up from the freeted chord and use the 3rd finger to play the 6th note on the D string.
I have left a 12 bar In G
4xG
2xC
2xG
D
C
G
C
To get to the 7th note just use your 4th finger and place it one fret higher that 6th note. See bar 16(5th string= Open, 4th string 3rd fret beat 3 )
Hence the 6th and 7th patern goes like this
Beat 1,2 and 4 is same 6th note, just beat 3 changes with added 7th note. Beat 3 on the count of 3 O3, and on the a OO and so on.
I hope this helps as a instruction to open G.
The drop works the same way all do is move the 5th and 4th string up one string to our face , hence we get the root on the 6th string. Same pattern applies to it.
