Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi says the band’s celebrated Frantic Four lineup reunion was “a fucking mess.”He and Rick Parfitt reunited with drummer John ‘Spud’ Coghlan and bassist Alan Lancaster for their first shows together in over three decades. But Rossi tells Classic Rock: “To me, the tour was a fucking mess. Spud was unfit and kept slowing down, and Alan has his own problems. So it was extremely hard work for me and Rick.”He also admits to feeling bewildered over why anyone cared. “Sometimes it was so sloppy that I can’t see why the fans loved it. I’m glad they did, but for the life of me I can’t comprehend why – other than it’s all about nostalgia. And that’s not really what motivates me.”Nevertheless, Rossi thinks the classic lineup will ride again. “The bottom line is that we could have rehearsed a little more,” he says. “I think we will do so next time.“I had a really hard time on that tour – however, there’s something in me that says, ‘Let’s do it again and see if we can do it better.’”The full interview appears in the next edition of Classic Rock, on sale September 11.

My dream for the end of Quo - to see every member of the band past and present on the same stage at the last ever gig. As the encore ends, they all stand on the stage in the "Tank" formation with teles playing Rick's intro to Caroline as the stage sinks from view in dry ice .
