From Precious Pup on the main status Quo Forum It's the count in on the guide vox mic track from when we did the basic. No click track was used so the count was essential for everyone and also that it was recorded to establish the start part for the overdubs. As the dubs progressed there would sometimes be interesting Banta build up over these count in's to the tracks. Most of the time I'd take the chinagraph pencil, jog the tape back and forth past the heads, mark the in point, then take the single edged razor blade to the ΒΌ" tape. Sometimes though it was fun just to leave it on! Now it's all down to clicking a little old mouse. Cheers, Pup
My dream for the end of Quo - to see every member of the band past and present on the same stage at the last ever gig. As the encore ends, they all stand on the stage in the "Tank" formation with teles playing Rick's intro to Caroline as the stage sinks from view in dry ice .
Used to love the tape speed on my old 4 track, used record track 1, the slow it down and record track2, some werid sounds would come out, or reverse the tape hence backward effects. ah the C90 tapes
I rember taking the tape into the Physics lab, due Lecture the been on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave got some weird looks from other students due experoment with the tape o i made at home ,with a mic against the wall, and my Dog barking through the wall. But the lecturer like it Mr swan. oh dear on my Physics mode again
Done some some stuff with cut a paste with computer programs, for abou 11 years, like copy and paste same track and moving about to get the flange sound or echo.
I always like to find something in recording more fun i say.
